Afternoon Session 1pm to 6pm:

Continuous provision except for specific times for the teaching of phonics and numeracy to pre-schoolers (TBC). This session will end with group story time.

Continuous provision allows children to:

•Be active, confident participants

•Make choices to create their own learning contexts

•Make choices based upon their own learning and experiences

•Have the time and space to really immerse themselves in an activity they’re enjoying

•Be imaginative, original and innovative and create ‘alternative worlds’ for themselves

•Be solitary or play in groups

•Concentrate and collate all they’ve learned, felt and understood that session

The Baby Unit (0 months to 2 years):

•Exploratory play with sand; malleable play with playdough and water; mark-making and painting; sensory discovery with soft toys; books, mirrors and musical instruments.

•Physical play with construction, small equipment, blocks, tunnels and dens.

•Imaginary play with role-play and small world.

•Rest and relax in the quiet sleeping room when it all becomes too much.

The Main Nursery (2 to 5 years):

•The cosy area includes an IT area, home-corner with dressing up, book area and soft cushions/ bean bags for some quieter time to settle down. Also, there’s the land of the small where imaginations can run free, a construction area where young builders can create masterpieces and a musical area too.

•The main room is where meals are served but when they are cleared away and world of discovery awaits! There’s water play; mark-making and painting, a maths area with fun activities on offer at all times, junk model-making and lots of tactile activities including sticking, crafting, colouring and creating.

•Outside there’s a fantastic outdoor playroom so that children can be outdoors come rain or shine. There are cars and trikes, water play, a large sand pit, building blocks and a playhouse where children can immerse themselves in their imaginations. They can explore the natural world when playing amongst the trees and dens; observe the guests in the ‘Bugs Hotel’ and role-play in the fantastic teepees and have fun making mud pies in the 'mud kitchen'.
